Next Generation FR1 Multiport Antenna with Metasurface for Drone Networking
摘要
A compact flexible metasurface integrated narrowband 4-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna was developed for fifth-generation (5G) Sub 6 GHz drone communication. First, a microstrip patch with a defective ground structure was constructed at the n78 band. Then, 4-port microstrip MIMO antennas are placed orthogonally to each other. The antenna is mounted on polyimide material with a total dimension of 86.50 × 78 × 0.1 mm. A dual square double negative metasurface was designed to improve the antenna parameters such as scattering parameters, gain, and envelope correlation coefficient. The unit cell dimensions are 38 × 38 × 0.1 mm and are developed using a polyimide substrate for conformability. A MIMO antenna achieves the 5G Frequency Range 1 (FR1)band of 3.6 GHz with an S11 of − 25.5 dB and a gain of 5.02 dBi. Integrating the metasurface with the 4-port antenna enhances the gain from 5.02 dBi to 8.305 dBi, reflection coefficient < −30 dB, isolation > 20 dB, envelope correlation coefficient < 0.025, and diversity gain > 9.9.
