The challenges of modern times lead to the need for energy and resource saving and increased environmental efficiency both in the global sustainable development agenda and in the development agenda of the Russian Federation. This issue is comprehensively relevant for the refrigeration industry in all directions due to its strategic role. At present, various global social transformations determine the necessity of import substitution in the Russian Federation aimed at improving the quality of manufactured products and expanding their arsenal. For example, products of power engineering, compressor and refrigeration equipment are included in the list of products that are subject to import substitution in St. Petersburg, which is reflected in the relevant Government Decree of 2023. One of the ways to improve the efficiency of refrigeration machines, in this regard, is the development of ways to regulate the cooling capacity, since most of them operate in variable modes of operation. A positive effect in this direction can be achieved by regulating the compressor volumetric capacity, which in turn is the main energy consumer of refrigeration and engineering systems. The paper presents a substantiation of energy efficiency of a screw single-rotor compressor (SSC) equipped with a new type of capacity regulator - rotary control ring.
