Frame-Based Implantation of Stereo-EEG Electrodes
摘要
Stereo-electroencephalography as an invasive diagnostic examination in patients being evaluated for epilepsy surgery started in 1957 in Paris, France. The concept underlying this method is based on the idea that epilepsy is a network disease. To map the epileptogenic zone with the highest possible temporal and spatial resolution, orthogonal and oblique electrodes are implanted in the brain. One method of doing this with high accuracy is stereotaxis. In this chapter, the principles as well as the technical background of stereotaxis are discussed in the context of the SEEG. Finally, the application of a newly developed stereotactic frame is discussed.
