Integration of Blockchain Technology and Building Information Modelling Towards Smart Infrastructural Management

The extent and interest of technological advancements in the domain of construction management had been significantly increased due to its captivating market of exploration and collaboration. In present scenario, the application of Blockchain Technology had considerably expanded its horizon and thus being a part of technical dialogue in most parts of engineering and management. The digital revolution of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector is thought to be based on Building Information Modelling (BIM). Relevant application of Blockchain Technology in BIM effectively provides a trusted network for cloud storage and computing in construction industry. The study examines the integration of Blockchain Technology with BIM in present environment of construction management. The discussion yields and categorizes the application of Blockchain Technology in construction industry under five discrete domains. Moreover, the study identified the various challenges associated with the employment of the integration and provided recommendations towards positive implications in resolving disputes under construction management. The essence of the paper aims towards the completion of targets of SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
