Employment is a fundamental need for everyone, including persons with disabilities (PWDs). Nonetheless, the many barriers encountered by PWDs impair their capability of fully engaging in the labour market, attaining economic autonomy, and contributing to the nation’s progress. Globally, PWDs are at a significantly higher risk of unemployment. Therefore, this study aims to examine the most effective recruitment practices to be adopted by organisations when hiring PWDs. The methodology is divided into two stages. The first stage involves conducting desktop research by reviewing previous literature, addressing the research questions, and thoroughly examining the issue. The literature review reveals persistent unemployment problems among PWDs. The second stage involves conducting semi-structured interviews with established social entrepreneurs to identify the best recruitment practices for PWDs. As a result, efforts to improve employment opportunities for PWDs should systematically incorporate the social entrepreneurship perspective. The present study enriches our understanding of PWDs’ employment and improves their involvement in the labour market. Additionally, the results of this study provide organisations with recruitment guidelines for employing individuals with disabilities.

摘要
