Progressive Collapse Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Frame Buildings Under Column Failure
摘要
Progressive collapse refers to the chain reaction caused by an initial local failure of a structural member which may lead to the partial or total collapse of a building. This study is aimed at understanding the progressive collapse behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings subjected to sudden column failure by adopting pushdown, pushover and seismic analyses. The structural responses under different column failure cases: ground floor centre column failure, corner column failure, and exterior side column failure are analysed. The influence of building height on progressive collapse resistance is also investigated. The most severe failure case is noticed from the formation of hinges and variation of base shear values. The findings contribute to a better understanding of collapse mechanisms and design strategies for improving structural resilience.
