A review of the articles dedicated to a novel for fiber laser effect of self-induced laser-line sweeping (SLLS), since its opening to nowadays’ detailed exploration, is given. Due to its unusual appearance in general and already demonstrated versatile applications, SLLS ought to present interest for the community involved in studying fiber lasers.
