This chapter maps recent media literacy interventions from all over the world to the theory of change, to understand how media literacy converts to capability in people’s lives. Media literacy makes a difference to capability when it changes how people think of themselves as media makers/information providers; assess and deal with resilience to online risks, data exploitation and media content abundance; see the connection between their media literacy, their health, democracy, educational and economic opportunities; engage in civil society and/or to campaign in digital media contexts as activists; circulate more active and resilient attitudes with others towards media, data and information; act with self-efficacy in response to media, information and data and raise expectations on providers and institutions to produce and provide media, information, data and online experiences for, and engage with, more media literate and resilient publics. Written from the perspective of participants in media literacy interventions, this chapter accounts for the work which has most effectively developed media literacy into capability.

摘要
