Guiding the Development of AI in Healthcare Through Ethical Considerations and Effective Governance
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve healthcare through enhanced diagnostics, personalised care, and administrative efficiency. However, the rapid advancement of AI raises important ethical concerns that need addressing, particularly regarding privacy, informed consent, and patient autonomy. This paper examines the ethical issues surrounding the application of AI in healthcare, focusing on the privacy and security of patient data, informed consent, and maintaining patient autonomy. It also evaluates regulatory approaches to address these issues and enhance international cooperation on AI standards. The study identifies several key ethical challenges, including the necessity to protect patient information to maintain trust, ensure patients understand and consent to data use, and avoid replacing human judgment with algorithms. It also highlights the importance of fair and equal access to AI in healthcare. For AI to be responsibly integrated into healthcare, a balanced approach is required. This involves addressing ethical concerns, implementing effective regulations, and fostering international cooperation, particularly within frameworks like the WHO and EU institutions. By resolving these issues, AI can deliver its promised benefits, leading to better health outcomes globally. This paper ultimately provides recommendations to mitigate risks, protect health data, and regulate AI use in healthcare while advocating for increased international collaboration on standards and guidelines.
