This volume arose as one of the directions taken during the 2023 European Association of Archaeologists Annual Meeting, at Queen’s University, Belfast, largely extending the discussion on the multidimensional elements of personal identity as expressed by textiles choices, bodily-worn artefacts and enhancements. The five editors (Longhitano, Grömer, Dickey, Muti and Hitchens) committed to an effort of defining how various categories of ornamental material culture and textile artefacts, worn as bodily enhancements and fulfilling various clothing needs, can elucidate construction of personal identity, or contribute to community and group identity, through the repetition of patterns, norms, and customs.

摘要
