Fulani Pastoralism and the Crisis of Farmer–Herder Conflicts in Modern Nigeria: Exploring the Feasibility of Traditional Conflict Resolution Mechanisms
摘要
Interactions among the diverse peoples and societies of northern Nigeria have historically encompassed cooperation, competition, and conflict. This study explores the “Historical Exegesis of Orthodox Conflict Resolution Pathways in Epochal Trajectories in Northern Nigeria”, focusing on how disputes and violence were resolved across three key periods: pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial. It advocates for the revisitation and revitalisation of traditional conflict resolution methods to address contemporary grassroots disputes and mitigate societal breakdown. Employing historical methodology, the study uses qualitative analysis of primary and secondary sources for data collection and interpretation.
