This chapter draws on the nine country cases covered in this volume to provide comparative reflections on the relationship between federalism and the digitalization of public administration. It seeks to highlight the necessity of comparative analysis despite its challenges, to examine the commonalities that can be seen across cases when it comes to advancing or hindering digitalization progress, and to offer comments on how federalism has acted as both a facilitator and barrier to digitalization efforts at different stages. Finally, this chapter notes that there is still work to be done on questions concerning digitalization and federalism and offers reflections on future research in this area.

摘要

This chapter draws on the nine country cases covered in this volume to provide comparative reflections on the relationship between federalism and the digitalization of public administration. It seeks to highlight the necessity of comparative analysis despite its challenges, to examine the commonalities that can be seen across cases when it comes to advancing or hindering digitalization progress, and to offer comments on how federalism has acted as both a facilitator and barrier to digitalization efforts at different stages. Finally, this chapter notes that there is still work to be done on questions concerning digitalization and federalism and offers reflections on future research in this area.
