In order to determine the best input process parameters for the dressing process in external grinding and minimize surface roughness (SR) while maximizing wheel life (Tw), a study on multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) in cylindrical external grinding of SKD11 tool steel is presented in this paper. This was achieved by applying the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) approach to solve the MCDM challenge and the MEREC method to figure out the weights of the criterion. Six input process parameters were additionally examined in the experiment: dressing feed rate, non-feeding dressing, coarse dressing depth, coarse dressing passes, and fine dressing depth. The experiment was also designed using an L16 orthogonal array and the Taguchi method. The wheel life and the surface roughness of the samples were measured and supplied into the MCDM problem. Based on the study’s findings, the ideal dressing mode for external cylindrical grinding has been suggested.

摘要
