Critical Methodologies and Invisible Human Rights Violations: The View from Morocco
摘要
Assessment of human/women’s rights in countries such as Morocco—a semi-authoritarian, patriarchal, and a neoliberal state—often produces paradoxical conclusions, praising the government for enshrining such rights in its Constitution, while performing poorly in human development. This chapter demonstrates that by linking critical feminist methodologies to an ethnography of mundane practices of a women’s rights Association and its constituents, the country’s invisible human rights violations are exposed. This chapter argues that without linking women’s rights to economic and social human rights, without overhauling the existing economic global system, a revolution in the overall people’s well-being cannot take place.
