Investigating Cloud-Edge-Fog Computing Configuration for Robotics Application in SMEs in Industry 4.0
摘要
Industry 4.0 promotes autonomous and digital production with key enabling technologies such as: internet of things, artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies. Cloud technologies are known to offer adaptability and responsiveness in the manufacturing sector. Yet, it might be some barriers in their implementations in some contexts. This research develops a framework to optimize the integration of cloud, edge and fog computing capabilities in robotics applications focusing on SMEs. By addressing the challenges and opportunities identified through a detailed literature review and problem-solving analysis combined with experimentation, it led to identifying an optimization factor and a cost calculating method. This approach allows Small to Medium Enterprises (SME) industry professionals to streamline efficiency in automation processes, reduce costs through optimized resource allocation and scale their automation systems. Combining insights from robotics engineering, computer science, and manufacturing, the framework combines algorithm development, and rigorous testing to give out actionable results. This research provides researchers and industry specialists with valuable insights into advancing Industry 4.0 towards more resilient manufacturing systems.
