Numerical Modeling of the Effect of Wind on Water Oxy-Genation Under the Spring Thermal Bar
摘要
Using Barguzinsky Bay of Lake Baikal as an example, numerical modeling was applied to study the influence of wind force on water oxygenation under the spring thermal bar. Oxygen dynamics in the model are described through oxygen exchange with the atmosphere and physical transport due to cabbeling instability caused by the thermal bar. The following wind speed scale is considered: light air, light breeze, gentle breeze, moderate breeze, fresh breeze, and strong breeze. Numerical results showed that, with the development of the thermal bar, dissolved oxygen concentrations in water increase in the area of the thermal bar front with the increase in wind speed. The thermal front horizontal velocity was shown to be influenced predominantly not by wind force, but by its direction.
