摘要

This chapter surveys proof-of-concept demonstrations and prototype workflows where quantum algorithms have been used for simulation, optimization, and data analysis in engineering contexts. The case is made for quantum ab initio computations as being the foremost candidate for quantum advantage and real-world value addition. Challenges impeding speedups for simulating classical physics on quantum computers are discussed.
