Rehabilitative Interventions
摘要
Rehabilitative interventions play an important role within forensic psychology in that they are central to reducing the likelihood of reoffending. Though able to form the basis of a book in its own right, this chapter explores the principles, aims and practical implementation of rehabilitative approaches used with individuals who have offended. Rehabilitative interventions are underpinned by both risk management and strengths-based models, with an increasing emphasis on the importance of trauma-informed care, responsivity to individual needs, and promoting desistance through person-centred engagement. Throughout this chapter, we will provide a historical overview of interventions within custodial settings, in addition to discussing psychologically informed environments and some of the key therapeutic interventions used with individuals with convictions for sexual and/or violent offences. Where appropriate, we highlight the successes and limitations of current practice, with attention paid to how intersectional identities (including race, gender, and neurodiversity) can affect access to and outcomes of rehabilitation.
