Regulations and Formal Rules in Political and Economic Systems
摘要
This chapter examines the role of institutions, political systems, and economic structures in shaping national and international economic dynamics. Institutions, categorized into formal (laws, regulations) and informal (social norms, conventions), are explored as foundational elements influencing economic behavior. The chapter delves into various political systems, including democracies, totalitarian regimes, and socialist states, highlighting their impact on governance and economic policies. It further distinguishes between economic systems—market, command, and mixed economies—and their implications for resource allocation and efficiency. The discussion extends to the spread of democracy and its relationship with economic development, emphasizing how political and economic reforms drive transitions toward market-oriented economies. Through case studies such as H&M's experience in China, the chapter illustrates the practical effects of these systems on business operations and international trade, providing insights into the complex interplay between political and economic institutions in a globalized world.
