The Thar Desert, situated between the Aravalli Hills Ranges in the east and the Indus River in the west, is an integral part of the arid western part of Indian Subcontinent, where the moisture availability index of −66.67 defines the eastern limit of the arid land (Krishnan, 1968; Anon, 2001).
