The brittle nature of glass calls for special attention to connections in glass structures. This chapter discusses mechanical connections for glass structures while the succeeding Chap. 8 discusses adhesive connections. Suitable contact materials for load transfer are discussed in Sect. 7.2. Subsequently, continuous and point support configurations are described in Sect. 7.3. Finally, mechanical connections for transfer of large forces between adjacent glass components and/or the underlying structure are described in Sect. 7.4.

摘要

The brittle nature of glass calls for special attention to connections in glass structures. This chapter discusses mechanical connections for glass structures while the succeeding Chap. 8 discusses adhesive connections. Suitable contact materials for load transfer are discussed in Sect. 7.2. Subsequently, continuous and point support configurations are described in Sect. 7.3. Finally, mechanical connections for transfer of large forces between adjacent glass components and/or the underlying structure are described in Sect. 7.4.
