In this chapter, I introduce the main topics of this thesis. I discuss on-going and planned searches for beyond Standard Model physics, and the role that nuclear structure plays in interpreting these experiments. I also overview the recent developments in nuclear interactions and nuclear structure over the last decades, as well as the concept of quantum Monte Carlo methods. Finally, I lay out the structure of the thesis.

摘要
