Oral Mucosa
摘要
This chapter explains the histological organisation of the wall of the oral cavity, with special attention to the structure of the different types of epithelium. The cell types present in the epithelium and the processes of keratinisation and cornification are described. The three basic types of mucosa present in the oral cavity and where they are found are listed. Finally, the specialised mucosa of the tongue, with its lingual papillae and taste buds, is described in detail.
