Boyhood and Social Media
摘要
Social media is a place where many young people develop their understandings of manhood. Boys and young men (BYM) who spend time on social media are more likely to internalise an unrealistic and narrow version of masculinity. Teachers and parents have a role to play in optimising the benefits of online social engagement while educating BYM regarding how to mitigate the negative aspects. They can teach young people social media literacy, help them to set healthy limits, and help create environments of support and care.
