Boyhood in the Digital Age
摘要
In this chapter, we provide an overview of the book, which examines contemporary boyhood within digital environments, exploring how boys and young men (BYM) navigate gender pressures and masculine identity formation online. We illustrate the nature of boyhood with an emphasis on the intersectional factors affecting diverse boyhood experiences. Highlighted are the challenges associated with escalating technologies, positioning critical literacy as essential for helping BYM to resist toxic online content, navigating algorithmic bias, and developing healthy digital citizenship. We advocate for educational approaches that empower BYM to critically engage with gendered messages rather than implementing restrictive bans.
