Positive Person Work (PPW): Behaviours That Promote Dignity
摘要
Kitwood’s Positive Person Work (PPW) represents an approach to dementia care that advocates person-centred care. PPW outlines interpersonal behaviours that promote dignity and respect for individuals living with dementia, which is the opposite of the MSP behaviours that he outlines, which threaten dignity and respect. These behaviours include recognition, negotiation, collaboration, play, celebration, relaxation, validation, holding, facilitation and creation; and provide care delivery that empowers people living with dementia. As such, it promotes emotional well-being and meaningful engagement with people living with dementia. This chapter explores the theoretical aspects and practical examples of PPW, and the importance of promoting person-centred care that enhances the quality of life for people living with dementia.
