As household energy costs rise, consumers need intelligent solutions to monitor and optimize electricity usage. This paper presents a smart IoT-based energy management system aimed at enabling real-time tracking of individual appliances through an intuitive mobile app, web dashboard, Short Message Service (SMS), and offline interface. The system allows users to view detailed usage trends, perform datalogging, set custom power thresholds for devices, and establish cost limits to prevent budget overruns. It provides remote control capabilities via app, web, or SMS—even without internet—helping households identify wasteful consumption, receive automatic alerts during excess usage, and manage devices proactively. By combining granular energy insights with flexible control options, the system supports reduction of electricity bills, prevention of appliance overload, and encouragement of sustainable energy habits. Considering India’s 294 million households, even a modest conservation of 1 unit per home could result in a nationwide saving of 294 million units daily, highlighting the system’s potential contribution to India’s sustainable development goals and energy conservation efforts.

摘要
