“Uncritical Models”: The Importance of Being Ridiculous
摘要
The concluding chapter explores the question of whether admitting and doubling down on the silliness of (reflected) reflection of the climate crisis can be a redeeming move or a cynical posture. The notion of “uncritical models” is introduced, based on Adorno’s reflections on dialectic thinking and reflection. The “uncritical models” are used to show that responses to the climate crisis that maintain a reflective distance are (probably) inherently silly, but the silliness can be counteracted by an awareness of it(self). In that, they represent a dialectical integration of aspects of comedy and tragedy.
