This chapter analyses the transformative potential of reinforcing young people’s participation in State matters to strengthen national democracy and global citizenship. We stress the importance of transitioning from a hierarchical and vertical governing model to a more horizontal structure that fosters collaboration. We will demonstrate how students’ perspectives were transformed by certain practises that aimed to awaken students’ consciousness about the importance of participating and getting involved in decision-making processes in their communities. Their perspective is a crucial part of our research because it provides a comprehensive understanding of the role of youth in strengthening democracy and global citizenship.

摘要
