This chapter proposes a reflection on the value of the biographical approach in social work through the use of life stories and the experimentation of operational tools such as emotional maps to support and complement them. Empowerment, i.e., ‘the liberation of people’, characterises professional practices as specified in the global definition of social work. In this context, the biographical approach is proposed as a further contribution to the exploration of the emotional/emotional dimension. Emotional maps form autopoietic tools for the transformation of reality. They can open up new possible worlds to people who ask for help, by offering an opportunity to recount their lives, circumstances and experiences, which allows them to be authentically listened to and understood, which, in turn, benefits increasingly inclusive and effective professional interventions. Therefore, the emotional maps experienced can be offered to the professional community as social work practices and tools for social service training. The aim of the chapter is to propose reflections on the processual and relational aspects of social work practices that facilitate the expression of subjective and intersubjective dimensions.

摘要
