In this contributory chapter, the optic of Zimbabwe is used to justify greater environmental social work and gerontology domain mainstreaming in African social work education and frontline practice. Pertinently, the unique psychosocial adversities navigated by African older adults require improved management, in order to address their dynamic and evolving needs. On the same note, mainstreaming in social work training curricula, scholarly discourses and fieldwork in domains such as environmental social work has been buttressed on the growing dominance of embedding developmental social work methods of intervention into much of the nation’s frontline social practice. Based on a review of secondary literature, pathways are offered through which social work educators can creatively embed critical perspectives of environmental social work and gerontology methods of intervention in the Zimbabwean setting.
