A Qualitative Study on the Integration of Artificial Intelligence in the FinTech Industry
摘要
The rapid advancement of technological innovations has significantly reshaped the financial sector, with the integration of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and mobile banking enhancing the delivery of secure, efficient, and inclusive financial services. These innovations have not only transformed customer experiences but also contributed to financial inclusion. However, despite the widespread adoption of AI in the financial industry, there remains limited academic exploration of its role and impact on FinTech development. The data has been collected from four fintech companies using semi-structured in-depth interviews along with secondary data to understand the extent of AI usage in the fintech sector. This qualitative study examines the integration of AI within the FinTech industry, with a focus on the challenges, opportunities, and recent advancements. To explore future business opportunities enabled by AI in Fintech Utilizing theoretical saturation, the study captures holistic perspectives on the topic, employing ATLAS.ti 25, a computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS), to analyze descriptive data through inductive thematic and qualitative content analysis. The thematic analysis follows the six-step framework proposed by Braun and Clarke, identifying key themes that highlight both the potential and obstacles in AI adoption within the financial services sector. Additionally, the study delves into case studies to explore how AI-driven automation is enabling FinTech companies to expand across various segments of the financial services industry. Case study method is preferable to the application of AI in Fintech industry to understand the problems and challenges which are perhaps not easy to study any other qualitative research methods.
