The Gap Between Finnish Teachers’ Ideal Perception of Worldview Dialogue and Their Praxis
摘要
This chapter explores Finnish basic education teachers’ perceptions of worldview dialogue and practical examples of it encountered in their work. First, we examine dialogue in the light of international literature and discuss Finnish teacher professionalism with a focus on professional autonomy in educational practice. Second, we present insights from a small-scale case study of Finnish teachers’ definitions and real-world experiences of worldview dialogue. Findings show that while teachers recognize the significance of worldview dialogue, its implementation in practice remains complex and challenging. There appears to be a gap between teachers’ perceptions and their actual pedagogical approaches, highlighting the need for further support and guidance in integrating worldview dialogue effectively into practice. This chapter explores how Finnish educators navigate this nuanced topic.
