Multi-Factor Authentication With Non-Intrusive Confidence Engine (NICE)
摘要
Information security is an essential aspect of resources and systems on the internet. Authentication systems must provide access to legitimate users while protecting against unauthorized access. Traditional authentication mechanisms often rely on password-based methods, with additional layers for enhanced security. This paper introduces NICE-MFA, a Multi-Factor Authentication system that leverages hardware, software, and network-based contexts from users’ registered devices to generate a confidence score. Our approach enhances security without sacrificing usability by minimizing interruptions faced during traditional MFA systems. By collecting and analyzing multiple contextual factors across different devices, NICE-MFA creates a non-intrusive authentication mechanism that balances security and usability. The system can serve as a complementary layer to existing authentication solutions, enhancing security while maintaining a seamless user experience.
