AI and the Right to Privacy
摘要
Among the leading issues raised by the growth of AI is the invasion of privacy which has enabled almost any individual, corporate or governmental organization to accomplish. In this Chapter, we will discuss the nature of privacy, and the rights attributed to it and the major threats posed by AI and attempts to thwart it most egregious circumvention. We note that its rise as a fundamental right, together with life, liberty, and property, the right to privacy was attributed in whole or in part to an article written in the nineteenth century. We will discuss its near destruction by the events of two World Wars that led the newly formed EU to lead in its formulation and extension; and whether and how AI may overwhelm governmental and private protections.
