This paper aims to evincing that between Berdyaev’s apophaticism and Patristic one, one may find not only numerous similarities but also many significant differences as well. Berdyaev uses apophatic terminology in his writings, repeatedly referencing the concepts of Eastern apophatic theology without being one of its representatives per se. In his own words, Berdyaev remained a “believing, free thinker”, and his apophaticism was (sometimes) radical. Berdyaev rejects some doctrines accepted by most Christian denominations, including the Orthodox Church, to which the Russian philosopher naturally feels closer, without being fully a follower. In any case, Berdyaev is quite suspicious of any orthodoxy—political or religious—of any normative and compelling. Berdyaev believed that any responsible Christian thinker had to purge Christianity from sociomorphism and false primitive beliefs.

摘要
