This paper examines the use of a digital or e-portfolios to address the importance of career skills and enhance students’ employability in tourism and hospitality education. Drawing on hands-on experience, the activities described involved job applications and recruitment, integrating both in-person and remote interactions. Carried out within two English for Specific Purposes courses, these activities were part of a comprehensive teaching and learning strategy, which produced different outputs that were compiled into personal digital portfolios to support students’ future job applications. Establishing the importance of career skills ‘development, the author outlines the activities carried out, by framing them within current theoretical rationales and describing their implementation and reception. As a result, in addition to a more descriptive stance, the author also puts forward key reflections, crosscutting the use of technology with competency enhancement, offering practical insights on their potential within the scope of tourism higher education. Combining technology-driven approached and interactive classroom experiences, the strategy described establishes the benefits e-portfolios in the context of career skills development and their potential in the current tourism education landscape.
