This design thinking project explores the use of operating systems within an educational context, beginning with the Empathy phase to understand the experiences, needs, and challenges of students and faculty through stakeholder identification, questionnaires, surveys, and the creation of empathy maps. This information helps in identifying key problems and pain points, setting the stage for the subsequent Point of View and Problem Definition phase where a refined problem statement and “How Might We” questions guide the ideation process. Insights from these phases lead to the Prototype phase, where two innovative solutions are developed: the first prototype incorporates gamification elements into the operating system interface to enhance interactivity and engagement, while the second focuses on visualization enhancements to simplify complex concepts, aiming to transform the user experience by increasing engagement, comprehension, and usability in educational operating systems.
