This final chapter walks readers through their possible feelings of overwhelm at the enormity of this problem and its seeming futility. My intention is to provide readers with encouragement and empowerment through concrete actions that readers can take in their day-to-day, online, educational, and professional lives. First, we will examine the dominant discussions around AI regulation and governance, such as standardized “fairness, accountability, and transparency” frameworks, as well as the notoriously tricky concept of AI “alignment.” Next, I provide observations of the beliefs of AI researchers and connect these attitudes to the beliefs and behaviors of the broader public. I gather the conclusions of other critical scholars of AI and demonstrate that we have many possible paths toward a more just sociotechnical world. Ultimately, I provide a Just AI Toolkit for identifying, monitoring, and revising the AI systems that surround them.

摘要
