In this chapter, we formulate the main conclusions of our tour of the three areas of research. We start with an answer to the big question of the relationship between health care system structure and equality in population health, and we highlight the intermediate steps to understand how this relationship works (Sect. 8.2). We will then identify the research and policy added value (Sect. 8.3) of combining health systems, health services, and population health research. In this concluding chapter, we will also point to the way forward by proposing elements of a research agenda (Sect. 8.4) and discuss the necessary conditions for integration and collaboration between the three fields of research (Sect. 8.5).
