Merleau-Ponty deals with the notion of sensation in the first chapters of the Phenomenology of Perception (2005), first published the original in french in 1945. Follow Merleau-Ponty, sensation is one of the most difficult notions to deal with when it comes to better understanding perception. This would be one of the reasons why many of the classical theories dealing with the notion of sensation do not grasp the phenomenon of perception.
