Nowadays, photovoltaic and wind based microgrids become more widespread. However, solar and wind energy production is intermittent. On the other hand, the high rate integration of renewable energy sources into the grid may have negative impact on the production consumption power balance, and therefore the voltage and frequency stability of the overall power grid. Hence, energy storage is being an increasingly important element in the energy supply chain. To deal with these challenges, new approaches and algorithms of MG energy management and demand response, at different levels, are developed.
