Experimental Set-Up and Prelimina+y Study on the Evolution of Tire-Road Contact Patch
摘要
The present paper aims to propose an experimental set-up for determining the contact patch geometry and its area for a given tread design when changing more important parameters such as inflation pressure and load. The present paper describes the design, finite element method (FEM) analysis and construction of an experimental test rig that allows the for a quarter car model allowing the analysis of the contact patch displacement in static regime by optical image analysis methods. Such a study can contribute to the identification of best practices for increasing tire durability, fuel efficiency, pollution reduction, stability, handling and safety.
