The circular economy is a model that breaks with the traditional “take-make-dispose” system to promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability. Practically implementing this vision requires a strong digital foundation—where the integration of blockchain technology is a game-changer. In this chapter, we explore how blockchain creates transparency in supply chains, traceability across the lifecycle of products, and accountability among stakeholders. Global case studies such as Plastic Bank (South America), Provenance (UK), Circularise (EU), and Everledger (Australia) show how real-world applications of blockchain enhance circular practices. In addition, the chapter discusses the synergy of blockchain with IoT, AI, Big Data, and Digital Twins—making circular systems real-time, intelligent, and self-correcting. We also highlight some critical challenges such as scalability, interoperability, trust issues, and infrastructure gaps in developing nations, and suggest solutions through policy and innovation. Finally, the chapter envisions that in the future, Blockchain for Circular Economy 2.0 will create a global ecosystem in which every product is ethically sourced, responsibly used, and transparently recycled—towards a truly carbon–neutral and regenerative planet.
