To Arms! Psychotherapy as Class Warfare
摘要
In this chapter, I explore the powerful role that psychotherapy plays in modern society, arguing that it serves as a tool in class warfare used by the capitalist class against the working class. I contend that psychotherapy operates much like religion, shaping the ideological framework that sustains capitalist values and reinforces the status quo. I critique the scientific foundations of psychotherapy, drawing parallels between therapeutic practices and religious practices. I demonstrate how psychotherapy is deeply entrenched in capitalist ideology, serving to pacify rather than liberate individuals. I advocate for a radical reappropriation of psychotherapy, transforming it into a weapon for liberation. I conclude with practical guidelines for therapists who are committed to revolutionary change, emphasizing the importance of adopting a contextual worldview, holding firm to radical values, engaging in systemic work, and cultivating resistance as a way of life.
