Slider-Crank Spring Linkage Used for Balancing the Wheelchair Back- and Footrest
摘要
To improve the paraplegics life quality is needed to have reconfigurable wheelchairs, which allow the change of body position from sitting to lying down and to facilitate daily needs. This request needs to move the backrest and footrest from an approximately vertical position in a horizontal one and to fulfill the balancing of the forces in each position. The balanced position ensures a manual or an additional low power actuation of the backrest and footrest. The paper proposes an adapted gear stage connected with a slider-crank linkages with spring force balancing for tilting of a wheelchair’s backrest and footrest. The tilting body mass can be fully balanced by using either one or two linear springs.
