Throughout this chapter, the political alignments of 18 Latin American countries with major powers are explained and characterized through the lens of a triangular relationship: Latin America, the United States, and China. In this way, the chapter seeks to empirically verify the hypothesis that Latin American countries have tended to politically align with the Asian country, thereby distancing themselves from the United States.
