Advocacy for People at Risk or Living with Lung Cancer and Their Caregivers Across the Care Continuum

This chapter examines the historical roots, current strategies, and future potential of individual advocacy in lung cancer. Through examining roles and responsibilities, exploring approaches to advocacy, and highlighting critical resources, this chapter will provide lung cancer navigators and allied health professionals tools and resources to empower people living with or at risk for lung cancer and their loved ones. After reading this chapter, the navigator shall understand the history of self-advocacy in lung cancer, describe its importance, and demonstrate the ability to provide the tools and information needed to support self-advocacy.
