This chapter delineates the methodological and analytical framework essential to perform corpus-based analyses related to specific aspects of legal language, and more precisely legalese, and sexist terminology in the evolution of legal English. Within the diverse linguistic characteristics of legal discourse, this framework specifically focuses on complex prepositional and adverbial phrases, deictic elements, vague expressions, complex or archaic verbs, archaic nouns, Law Latin, Law French and formulaic expressions. Furthermore, the chapter investigates some of the most prevalent and enduring gender biases embedded in legal language, providing a structured approach for their systematic examination.
