Impact of Climate Change on Tourism in Kerala: A Study on Perception, Awareness, and Adaptation
摘要
Kerala, a world-notable tourism destination, is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change such as extreme weather events, coastal erosion, and biodiversity loss. The present study deals with the perception, awareness and adaptive strategies of the tourism stakeholders of the Kerala tourism sector. This consisted of a survey of 70 respondents including tourists, operators and officials. The results showed great understanding of climate change effects but also a discrepancy between view and practical adaptation strategies. The significance of awareness campaigns in promoting efficient adaptation is emphasized by correlation analysis. This paper provides practical information for policymakers and practitioners for ensuring sustainable tourist development in Kerala.
